Description

BTM/2P/400/5600/B/G Double Pillar Drum Tipper

This Drum Tipper was designed to lift and tip a 400 Kgs Drum to tip through an angle of 180 degrees at a discharge height of ¬5567mm. The Drum Tipper is manufactured from mild steel with a powder coated finish, is a welded construction throughout and is designed to be bolted to the floor. The lifting is accomplished via chains driven by a motor gearbox mounted at the bottom of the one column with a crossover shaft to the other column. Given installation constraints on site, the Drum Tipper was made in multiple sections.

Safety Guard to BS EN 14120:2015 Safety of Machinery Guards

This Double Pillar Drum Tipper was supplied complete with a safety guard to meet the guidelines of BS EN 14120:2015 Safety of Machinery Guards. The safety guard is constructed from 40 x 40 x 3mm box section and 2.0mm sheet which encloses the Drum Tipper to a height of approximately 6800mm on all sides, with a robust hinged manually operated guard door through which the drum is loaded. The guard door is electrically and mechanically interlocked preventing the Drum Tipper from operating when the door is open. Additionally, the guard door can only be opened when the lift carriage is at the full down position to prevent access whilst a load is raised.

The guard would be constructed using sheet metal to form an enclosure around the Drum Tipper to contain the metal dust as the drum is tipped as much as possible. There was a length of powered roller track outside the bottom of the tipper and gravity rollers fitted into the base of the lift carriage. The powered roller track was used to drive the full drum into the lift carriage and it also had weighing capability to weigh the drum prior to tipping.

Drum Tipper Electrical Control

The Drum Tipper was fitted with an IP65 Control Panel which is mounted on the safety guard at a convenient position to give good maintenance access under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulation 1998 (PUWER). The control panel incorporated many design features required for this particular application including control of the Roller Conveyor, control of the Tipper and Control of a Vibratory Feeder at the upper level. Dual Upper and Lower end of travel limit switches are positioned to prevent inadvertent adjustment or damage but are easily adjustable by trained personnel for fine adjustment on site.
