BTM/2P/400/2800/B/G Double Pillar Dolaf Box Tipper
This Double Pillar Dolaf Box Tipper is designed to lift and tip a Magnum 1208 Pallet Box (1200mm L x 800mm W x 950mm H) at a discharge height of 2800mm into a Transfer Chute feeding the product into a Storeveyor. The box wa loaded and tipped over the wide side. The Dolaf Box Tipper is manufactured from Grade 304 stainless steel, is a welded construction throughout and is designed to be bolted to the floor. The lifting is accomplished via chains driven by a motor gearbox mounted at the top of the one column with a crossover shaft to the other column.
Safety Guard to BS EN 14120:2015 Safety of Machinery Guards
This Dolaf Box Tipper was supplied complete with a safety guard to meet the guidelines of BS EN 14120:2015 Safety of Machinery Guards. The safety guard is constructed from 40 x 40 x 3mm stainless steel box section and 2.0mm stainless steel sheet. The safety guard encloses the Dolaf Box Tipper to a height of 2200mm on all sides with a pair of hinged guard doors through which the bin is loaded. The upper sections of the safety guarding was fitted with laser cut panels and the lower sections had solid panels.
There was a further section of safety guarding around the far side of the Transfer Chute also with an interlocked safety gate which was released via a ‘Guard Release’ Push Button on the Main Control Panel to allow access for Maintenance and/or Cleaning.
All guard doors are electrically and mechanically interlocked preventing the Dolaf Box Tipper from operating when a door is open. Additionally, the guard doors can only be opened when the lift carriage is at the full down position to prevent access whilst a load is raised. Where possible horizontal members were turned through 45° to minimise the number of ledges in the design and the Motor and Bearing Covers were designed with sloping roofs.
Dolaf Box Tipper Electrical Control
This Dolaf Box Tipper is fitted with an IP65 Stainless Steel Control Panel which is mounted on the Safety Guard at a convenient position to give good maintenance access under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulation 1998 (PUWER). The control panel incorporates the following controls; Control On, System Start, Guard Release, Emergency Stop and a Reset Facility and will be a sloping roof enclosure. Dual Upper and Lower end of travel limit switches are positioned to prevent inadvertent adjustment or damage but are easily adjustable by trained personnel for fine adjustment on site.
The Dolaf Box Tipper operation is latched so that pressing the ‘System Start’ push button once will raise the lift to an intermediate limit switch position. From this point, the tipping action will be controlled by the Siemens PLC and the customers Storeveyor Photo Cell which was connected to a volt free pair of contacts and used as a ‘Call to Run’ signal. As long as the ‘Call to Run’ signal was being received, the tipper would run and then pause, gradually discharging product until its reached the Full Up position. Once the Dolaf Box Tipper reached the Full Up position and all product had been discharged, it automatically returned to the ‘Full Down’ position.
